Meet Louise Foddy,
ADHD Coach
ADHD coaching helps individuals with executive function, which are the cognitive processes that help you plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and successfully juggle multiple tasks.
ADHD coaching is provided by a trained coach who supports individuals in understanding the ADHD brain and empowering them to develop personalised strategies to improve executive function. General coaches may not have specialised knowledge of ADHD.

What are our ADHD coaching principles?
ADHD Coaching approaches draw from well-established coaching psychology approaches. However, some principles include;

-
Cognitive Functioning: Recognise ADHD as part of neurodiversity and view it as a difference in cognitive functioning rather than a disorder.
-
Supportive Environment: Create an environment where individuals feel safe exploring their challenges and opportunities without fear of judgment.
-
Holistic View: Focus on addressing challenges and enhancing the talents associated with ADHD. Additionally, provide support for overlapping neurodiversity, including Autism, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
-
Flexible: Acknowledge the uniqueness of each neurodivergent individual.
-
Executive Functioning Support: Addressing common ADHD-related memory-related difficulties, organisational skills, time management, stress and concentration.
-
Solution: Focus individuals' attention towards exploring choices and solutions.
Seven tips for selecting a ADHD coach
Selecting the right coach is critical for achieving your personal and professional goals. Our ADHD UK coaches have specialised training in neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
-
Ethics: Look for coaches who are committed to ethical practices.
-
ADHD Coaching Qualifications: Coaching is unregulated. Research coaches' qualifications, experience, and credentials to confirm their credibility. For example, look for ADHD qualifications recognised by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), including ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) and ADHD Coaches Organisation (ACO).
-
Experience: It can be helpful to have a coach with lived experience in the areas you wish to support. However, it is not recommended to have a coach with no training.
-
Identify Areas of Support: Reflect on what you want to accomplish through coaching.
-
Research: Educate yourself about ADHD coaching and the coaching process.
-
Free Chemistry Calls: Chat with prospective coaches to gauge your chemistry and rapport.
-
Check for Success Stories: Inquire about the success stories.
